User Interface (UI) Design

Good UI design helps people navigate and interact with a product smoothly, creating a seamless and engaging experience. It works hand-in-hand with User Experience (UX) design to make sure users not only find what they need but also enjoy the process!

While every screen that allows for user interaction could be considered a user interface (eg: website design, which I also specialize in), below are a few examples of more complex designs that I have created.

ESCS Dashboard

Using the user research data collected from our user research & interview sessions, I created a new site template and navigation, along with a dashboard design that highlights the most important statistics in order of priority. The dashboard includes UI elements such as data breakdowns, trends, alerts, and more.

Swaggle

Swaggle is a startup that helps people find second-hand men’s fashion clothing in a fun and easy way. The main product is an iOS mobile app, complemented by various secondary offerings, including a website and a subscription box — each requiring specific interface designs tailored to different audience groups.  The main app utilizes the swipe user interface design pattern that was popularized by Tinder.

Plum Reporting

Plum Reporting features an interactive listing of all Federal government political appointees, with very specific sets of filters and sorts.  Similar to my other interface designs that are used by multiple audience groups, I leaned on things that I learned from Ux sessions during the discovery phase.

Additional responsive mockup shows how each record row appears as card on a smaller screen size (eg: smart phone).

OPM DC Status

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) DC Status app provides real-time updates on the operating status of federal government offices in the Washington, D.C., area. It is a straightforward iOS and Android app with push notifications. Additional features have been introduced as the product has matured over the years. This app also established the look and feel reflected in the U.S. OPM website’s operating status alerts, spotlight, and status page.
